Great project news form HOCHTIEF ViCon again: ViCon has been assigned by Qatar Foundation (QF) to conduct 3D laser scanning services in Education City. ViCon secured this important project only six months after announcing the extension of its service portfolio in Qatar adding laser scanning and associated as-built documentation. This confirms that 3D laser scanning solutions provide a cost effective and efficient method for gathering existing conditions of building components.
ViCon’s scope of work will include the laser scanning activity of two highly technical cooling plants each measuring 20.000m² gross floor area with a complex MEP structure. The results of the laser scanning on site will be converted into an augmented BIM model with COBie worksheets and used for an as-built BIM documentation, which will ensure an easy connection to QF’s Facility Management system.
ViCon’s client Qatar Foundation is a non-profit organization that serves the people of Qatar by supporting and operating programs in three core mission areas: education, science and research, and community development. One of the initiatives of QF is the Education City which aims to be the center of educational excellence in the region.
