NewcastleGateshead to host major international technology conference, BIM Show Live, for third year running

The industry-leading BIM Show Live conference is set to return to NewcastleGateshead for a third time in 2019, further cementing the city’s reputation as a leading technology hub and digital construction powerhouse.

The announcement follows the success of the 2017 and 2018 events, which saw digital construction enthusiasts, including architects, engineers and construction professionals, travel to the North East from all over the world for the two-day show, which will take place at the Grade II* Listed Boiler Shop in Newcastle’s Stephenson Quarter for a third year.

The 2019 show will take place on 27 – 28 February 2019 and is once again set to impress with its unique mix of edgy technical content and industry speakers who are passionate about the future of digital construction. Unlike your typical construction conference, it’s designed to educate, inspire and inform, as well as providing its delegates with real examples of BIM delivery and how this can be applied to their own projects, allowing their organisations to maximise their BIM potential.

Paul Szomoru, Director of Business Events at NewcastleGateshead Convention Bureau, said: “It’s brilliant that BIM Show Live has chosen to stay in NewcastleGateshead for a third year. One of our sector strengths here is building information modelling (BIM) and digital construction and we have some of the best companies, talent and leadership in this field in the UK. Hosting this event helps us cement our profile and reputation as being at the forefront of this significant tech sector and we look forward to welcoming its vibrant audience from across the UK and overseas.”

Rob Charlton, CEO of Space Group and co-founder of BIM Show Live, said: “At BIM Show Live we provide a platform for the global BIM community to showcase digital innovation, and it’s this innovation which is powering the use of BIM on construction projects.

“BIM Show Live is a gathering place for all those who thrive on technology, it serves as a proving ground for breakthrough technologies – where next-generation innovations are introduced to the marketplace.

“Staying true to form, and because we love all things tech, for 2019 we’re going bigger than before. We all know that BIM is about the importance of data, but it’s how we use this data to drive building intelligence which is the key to future-proofing our urban landscapes.”

For 2019, the content streams will be changing to allow for more real-projects to be shared, giving a blend of how the theories of BIM are applied in real-time and on physical assets as well as virtual ones. Talks, discussions and demonstrations will explore the digital tools we are using today and will look ahead to the technologies of tomorrow.

As in previous years, a ‘call for papers’ will be used to seek out the show’s impressive speaker line up, which will compliment a set of keynote speakers over both days.  Call for papers will be open from Thursday 6 September and close on Thursday 1 November, with the full show programme being announced early December.
