The UK BIM Alliance; Making BIM Business as Usual by 2020

The UK BIM Alliance are teaming up with DCW for the return of the BIM Village and the all new series of BIM Chats only at Digital Construction Week.

In an industry of over 2.1M people, where 95% work in SMEs; the mission of the UK BIM Alliance is to help professionals understand the value of a digitally enabled industry.  Their grand vision is to make BIM Level 2 business as usual by 2020.  Digital Construction Week are partnering with the UK BIM Alliance to help make this vision possible.

The BIM Village will feature a full two-day seminar programme with presentations from leading BIM experts including; Chair of the UK BIM Alliance; Anne Kemp, and Head of BIM at the Governments UK BIM Task Group; David Philp.  All sessions will be completely free to attend, helping make the sessions accessible to as many people as possible.

The BIM Village will focus on the business case, implementation, and adoption of BIM with a range of sessions catering to all levels of expertise.  New to the event this year we will be introducing our BIM Chats series.  The BIM Chats will focus on the practicalities of BIM delivery with informal workshop style sessions.  The BIM Chats will cover a range of topics hosted by our BIM experts and we’ll be crowdsourcing session topics via social media on #BIMchats.

“Our aim is to make BIM learning accessible to all.  There’s been a huge uptake of BIM and the associated technologies and processes since the launch of the mandate but as many will agree there is still much to be done.  We want to really help drive the agenda forward as it’s clear there are real gains to be had.  Partnering with the UK BIM Alliance allows us to do that, and hopefully offers everyone access to the information and expertise they need to get on their journey especially SME’s that make up 95% of the industry.”  Oliver Hughes CoFounder & Director, Digital Construction Week.

“Following last’s year success of the BIM Village Theatre, when we were approached by Oliver Hughes, it was a no-brainer to say yes to working with them again.  The UK BIM Alliance was launched at DCW16 and it seems appropriate that we provide an update on the last 12 months at the same event.  This will take place on the BIM Village Theatre which we are running again this year, with you the industry – if you’d like to get involved please get in touch.

Alongside the BIM Village Theatre we will have a dedicated #BIMchat space where conversations with presenters from the BIM Village Theatre will take place as well technical workshops and clinics were questions can be asked and answered.  Registration for DCW opens soon, so secure your place at what promises to be an exciting year for Digital Construction.” John Eynon, Engagement Lead, UK BIM Alliance and Pam Bhandal, Events & PR Lead, UK BIM Alliance
