Deriving Meaningful Data from FM Software & BIM Integration

Posted by

Service Works Group (SWG) has published a white paper to help facilities managers embrace Building Information Technology, following the results of a BIM4FM task group survey which revealed that 62 per cent of the FM community believe that Building Information Modelling (BIM) could support FM delivery.

The paper which provides an overview of BIM in relation to FM, discusses how integrating BIM with existing computer-aided facilities management (CAFM) systems can provide real, meaningful data that supports the FM function and wider organisation.

The white paper ‘Deriving Meaningful Data from FM Software & BIM Integration’ looks at:

  • what BIM is, its background and an overview in relation to FM
  • the benefits of integrating BIM with computer-aided facilities management (CAFM) systems
  • how CAFM can be integrated with BIM
  • the future of BIM and CAFM.

From April 2016, fully collaborative 3D BIM will become mandatory on all centrally procured public construction projects.

The free white paper is targeted at the practising facilities professional with some knowledge of FM software and BIM, and who is interested in improving their knowledge on this topic
