Lean Construction

Lean construction is a term coined in the 1990s by Glen Ballard and Greg Howell of the Lean Construction Institute. They adapted process and productivity improvements exhibited by the Toyota Production System in manufacturing industries over the last few decades for application by the construction industry. Toyota was heavily influenced afterWorld War II by the U.S. Army consulting group \"Training Within Industry\" (TWI) and the quality teachings by Edward Deming.
